27th July, 2009 - Singapore: Swire Pacific Offshore (SPO) is pleased to announce that its first Corporate Social Responsibility / Sustainable Development (CSR / SD) Report, for 2008, has been published and externally verified to Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI) G3 C+.

SPO has strong core values and ethics. We aim to be responsible, prudent and ethical in all we do and provide a professional service with integrity. We report on our CSR / SD activities as part of our commitment to transparency and accountability to our stakeholders, which includes shore staff, sea staff, clients, suppliers, government regulators and NGOs who may be affected by our business. Our annual SD report enables us to communicate our past performance and future commitments in the key areas of: the Environment, being the Employer of Choice, Occupational Health and Safety, Community Engagement / Corporate Philanthropy, Business Partnering / Supply Chain Management and Corporate Governance / Ethics.

Our 2008 SD report is much more detailed than last year, and has been externally verified to be in compliance with reporting standards established by the GRI, to level G3 C+. The GRI Guidelines outline the required core content for reporting and are relevant to all organizations regardless of size, sector, or location, and thus allow the reports to be reviewed on an “apples for apples” basis. The G3 Guidelines outline a disclosure framework that organizations can voluntarily, flexibly, and incrementally adopt. The flexibility of the G3 format allows organizations to plot a path for continual improvement of their sustainability reporting.
