The R-Class has been built according to an advanced UT738 design and the vessels are multipurpose anchor handlers, designed to support jack-up rigs and offshore installations. With a large accommodation capacity, plenty of clear back deck space as well as Dynamic Positioning (DP 1 or DP 2), the Class is ideal for ROV operations.

The Class has worked in India and the Arabian Gulf. The most famous vessel in this class, Pacific Responder, operates as Emergency Towage Vessel (ETV) for the Torres Strait and Great Barrier Reef area on behalf of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA). Based out of Cairns, she is a critical component of the drive to protect Australia’s coastline from environmental threat.
