The V-Class has been specifically designed to replace the ageing but iconic UT704 design, which has been the offshore standard workhorse since the 1980s. Swire Pacific Offshore (SPO) has upgraded and modernised the Class, producing the ultimate replacement: ideal for all-round rig support and towage.

The V-Class vessels are designed to have ample power to tow a variety of rigs, but also have a large enough deadweight capacity – designed for over 2,500 tonnes – to ensure they are efficient in supply mode as well. The Class has been constructed with fuel economy in mind, and will also support the latest in Dynamic Positioning and FiFi technology. SPO has taken delivery of eight (8) vessels in this class and the remaining two (2) vessels are scheduled for delivery in first half of 2010.
